Webinar: Water Security CRC – a new national initiative with UQ as lead partner

Water security continues to be a key challenge for many communities across Australia, both large and small, coastal and inland ones. While much progress has been made over recent decades in some specific areas through previous initiatives like the Catchment Hydrology CRC or the current Water Sensitive Cities CRC, there is often a lack of holistic planning and integrated approaches that could help to address challenges between competing interests.

Ultimately, sustainable, resilient and liveable communities have to rely on a productive cooperation with their water catchments and its other users. Therefore, UQ is partnering with Griffith and Monash Universities and a broad range of industry participants to create a major national initiative focused on water security in its broadest sense. This will include technical, social, environmental and economic aspects and hence also many disciplines and expertise areas across all partners. This webinar will give an outline of the scope and directions of the proposed Water Security CRC, as well as looking for input and contributions from the UQ research community on how to address these challenges.
