Why join our team?

Of course, in the end it all comes down to what we are doing and whether you are interested in water management with all its facets. Almost daily, our newspapers report about climate change, extreme weather patterns, droughts and the current water crisis. In Australia, there is a clear shortage of water professionals who can help tackle these problems; and there is a very strong demand for well-trained young professionals. We have the expertise and the capacity to train you for a successful career in the water sector.

Browse through our staff pages and you will see that we have a young team. This makes it easier for you to settle in and means that your supervisors are in touch with your needs and way of thinking - and it is one of the reasons why studying at the AWMC is great fun!

And we don't just make promises, we also deliver on them:
  • A/Prof Paul Lant, Dr Catherine Manathunga and A/Prof George Mellick were awarded the 2006 Carrick Australian Awards for University Teaching for Postgraduate Education - Research Project Virtual Portfolios.
  • In 2005, Prof Jurg Keller received the University of Queensland's Excellence in Research Higher Degree Supervision Award.
  • Prof Keller was also recognised for his supervision of Adrian Oehmen's dissertation, which won the 2005 Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors. It was the first time in the award's 17-year history that a student from a non-US university has won this award.
