While platform papers are now closed, we are still accepting submissions for poster presentations, either as 1 page abstracts, 2 page extended abstracts, or full papers up to 6 pages.

Papers should be submitted in Water Science and Technology format

Papers submitted after 1 April, for poster only, will be reviewed by 1 person on the committee and will not be considered for publication in Water Science and Technology.

Papers should be submitted electronically as a word document (.doc) to ad11@eventsolutions.com.au according to the WS&T guidelines.

Posters should be displayed by 10 am on their programmed day and should be removed by 6 pm. Poster authors are requested to be available for questions of your poster during the scheduled poster sessions:

Monday 24 September 13:30-14:00
Bioenergy, Biohydrogen, Microbial Fuel Cells and Organic Solids

Tuesday 25 September 13:30-14:00
Anaerobic granulation, Nutrient removal, Biofilms, Methanogens, Microbial diversity and Sulfates and Sulfides

Thursday 27 September 13:30-14:00
Industrial processes, Low strength/sewage, Membrane Reactors, Modelling, Process analysis, Recalcitrants and Inhibition

Poster Guidelines for Presenters

IWA Specialist Conferences A freestanding velcro compatible posterboard (2.4 metres high x 1.2 metres wide) will be provided for your poster. Your poster should not exceed the size of a standard A0 in portrait layout. Your poster number will appear on the top right hand side of the board so you can locate your board easily.

In order to efficiently communicate the results of your research to the viewers, you are kindly requested to devote considerable effort in the design of your poster. Providing A4 takeaway versions of your poster is also encouraged.

There will be a number of awards for the best posters presented (see below) so you may wish to consider the following;

Poster Prizes There will be 3 prizes awarded for each poster session i.e. 9 prizes in total. All prizes will be announced at the Gala Dinner.

  • The first prize is the Delegates Choice Award - Each day all delegates will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite poster. This will be done by ballot. Entries should be handed in to the registration desk each day. Ballot forms are included in the delegate satchels.
  • Second is the AD11 Poster Program Award - This poster prize will be awarded to the poster decided to be the most outstanding by the program committee each day. A representative of the committee will be judging the posters between 13:30 and 14:00 each day.
  • IWA Young Water Professional Prize -To be eligible for this prize you must be an IWA member under 35 years of age and the presenting author of the poster. If you are in this category please place this on the top right hand corner of your poster. The organising committee will judge this prize category. (picture links to large version).

Platform Presentation Guidelines

Length of Presentations
Each presentation will be 15 minutes in length. Each session will have a 30 minute discussion at the end of the session. It is at the discretion of the chair how this time is best used.

Session Chairpersons
Please refer to the Program Book you will receive at the conference for name of your session's Chairperson. Please meet your Chairperson in your session room 15 minutes the start of your session. You should also provide a short biography so that the chair may introduce you properly, please email this through to ad11@eventsolutions.com.au by the 17 September, 2007.

Presentation Upload
If you are using a PowerPoint or other electronic presentation, it must be uploaded onto the conference computers the day before your presentation. AD11 staff will be available in the speaker preparation room;

If you can not upload the day before please let us know. It is strongly encouraged for you to bring your presentation on a number of formats and you are discouraged from using your own laptop. Both Macintosh and Microsoft products will be available.

Audio Visual Information
The use of PowerPoint presentations is strongly encouraged and the following equipment will be provided in all meeting rooms:

No other equipment will be provided unless agreed to by the Organising Committee. Please send a request immediately if there is something you require.

Presentation Awards
The AD11 Program and Organising Committee will be awarding prizes to the best 3 presentations delivered at the conference. The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on Thursday 27 September.
Conditions: The decision of the committee is final and no discussion will be entered into.
